With lockdowns in motion, I don’t know more of a perfect time to develop my culinary skills. It seems as if everyone these days is experimenting with new food trends.
And, the latest food trend Dalgona Coffee is here to stay.
Dalgona Coffee has been the talk of the town on social media for the past couple of months. It all began in January when Korean actor Jung Il-woo mentioned the drink on his talk show. And, since then, it’s made its rounds on Tiktok, Instagram, and Facebook.
After seeing it all over my social media, I knew I needed to try it out to see if the hype over the ‘Internet’s new favorite drink’ was worth it.
And, honestly. It really, really was. This creamy, frothy coffee is absolutely delicious and is very simple to make.
Here’s what you need:
Makes: 2 servings Time: 5 minutes
- 2 tbsp of Instant Coffee
- 1 tbsp of Granulated Sugar
- 1 tbsp of Boiling Hot Water
I decided to cut down the required portion of the Granulated sugar, and added a drizzle of Honey instead! The original recipe calls for two tbsp of sugar.
Begin by adding the instant coffee, sugar, and water to a bowl and whisk with an electric hand mixer. Stop mixing once stiff peaks begin to form! You can whisk it up with a spoon; however, the process will take MUCH longer, and you won’t achieve the desired results.
And finally, add some cold milk to a glass and top it up with a few ice cubes. Next, plop the Dalgona mixture into the glass – and you’re done! I dusted the finished look with some cocoa.
I have a major sweet tooth, so I didn’t find the sweetness to be too overpowering – it was the right balance with the strong caffeine flavor. You can always cut down on the sugar, though!
Overall, it’s incredibly refreshing especially in this heat and a definite must try!
